...Like that of a goodly tree - its roots deeply set and its branches up to the heavens. Giving its fruit at all times by the permission of its Lord - and Allah does strike these examples for mankind that they may be touched. (Ibrahim 23-24)
The Deep Roots Project is a series of programs for college-age brothers and sisters. Once a month, we will gather for an event from a diverse set that includes: night-long Qiyam programs, seminars, outdoor trips, scholar visits, and camps. These programs all aim towards developing the Comprehensive Muslim: an individual deeply rooted in faith and far-reaching in positive impact on society.
Torch of the Prophets
"They are the ones whom Allah has guided—so by their guidance set your path"
(Al-An'am 6:90).
Chosen by Allah (swt), the Prophets left us a both a path and a mission. Their torch will be carried throughout time by believers who seek its light and feel its responsibility.
Through this year long series, the Deep Roots Project will explore their legacy for guidance as young Muslims in America. Join us in finding inspiration from Prophet Yunus and his repentance, Yusuf and his concern, Shu'aib and his message of reform, and Dawud with his spirituality and activism.

The Defining Features of Islam
Scholars have identified five overarching features that both define and distinguish Islam. An extensive study of Islam across its components, systems, and rulings reveal these shared characteristics pointing to the essence of Islam.
These features are:
- Rabbaniyah (Godliness)
- Humanism
- Comprehensiveness
- Balance
- Universality
We will explore one of these features each month through the Deep Roots Project. Studying this series has the potential to help us crystallize our image of the core message of Islam. It can help us develop a more comprehensive framework for understanding Islam and to "see the big picture."
